Care Home Design and CQC Healthcare – DSA’s Role in Transforming Spaces.
Enhancing Care Home Environments for Quality Living
Care homes play a crucial role in supporting individuals to live in safe surroundings, adapted to their needs. Many individuals living with dementia, Alzheimer’s, and other age-related conditions, and ensuring these environments are safe, accessible, and comfortable is vital for the well-being of residents. At Design Studio Architects (DSA), we are committed to transforming care homes through thoughtful design that meets Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and enhances the lives of both residents and staff.
DSA’s Experience in the Care Home Sector
- New Wycliffe Home – Creating Accessible, Thoughtful Designs
Our work on New Wycliffe Home (Vista) involved a comprehensive renovation to meet the needs of residents with visual impairments. We carefully reimagined the home’s main living and dining areas to ensure accessibility and independence for residents. The transformation included the addition of an entertainment area, a healthy snack bar, and comfortable seating zones where residents can relax and socialise. With accessibility as a core focus, the redesign creates a safe, functional, and inviting environment tailored to the needs of its residents. This project highlighted our ability to combine practical design with compassionate care, ensuring that the facility remains a functional and enjoyable space for everyone.
- The Highbury Project – Expanding and Enhancing Care
We are thrilled to announce the commencement of our Highbury Care home expansion scheme last November, a significant step forward in enhancing the existing care home and creating 10 additional rooms. This initiative focuses on expanding and reimagining their living spaces to create a more accommodating and comfortable environment for residents. With a design tailored to support the needs of individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s, the project aims to elevate the quality of care while aligning with the highest standards of the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
- Tavey House – A Completed Transformation
The recently completed Tavey House project is another testament to DSA’s expertise in care home design. This extension provided enhanced living spaces and a modern lift facility, significantly improving accessibility and comfort for residents. The upgraded design ensures that Tavey House continues to meet the high standards of care expected by the CQC, offering a safe and welcoming environment for its residents.
The Importance of CQC Standards in Care Home Design
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) plays a vital role in ensuring that care homes provide high-quality care that meets national standards for safety, dignity, and respect. At DSA, our designs incorporate these requirements, focusing on accessibility, safety, and a welcoming atmosphere. By adhering to these guidelines, we create spaces that promote independence and enhance the quality of care.
Designing for Retirement Living – Beyond Care Homes
Alongside our work in care homes, DSA is proud to specialise in designing retirement living schemes for those aged 55 and over. These developments focus on creating vibrant, community-focused environments that strike the perfect balance between independence and support. With thoughtful features like accessible layouts, shared facilities, and contemporary designs, we aim to provide retirees with a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable living experience.
Why DSA is the Right Choice for Care Home Projects?
With a deep understanding of the operational and emotional needs of care homes, DSA excels in designing environments that promote comfort, dignity, and independence. Projects like Tavey House, New Wycliffe Home, and the Highbury Project demonstrate our ability to deliver innovative, thoughtful designs that comply with CQC standards while addressing the unique requirements of residents and staff.
