The scheme was recognised in the small residential development category as a regional finalist at the LABC Awards 2019.

North West Leicestershire Council instructed DSA to carry out a number of schemes for a Social Housing programme within the district which would see the creation of new housing.

The Ashby Housing site offered the opportunity to provide a flagship scheme for the council, which would see the promotion of a new type of social housing and an emphasis on modern living and sustainability. This particular site was made up of four bungalows, which incorporated renewable energy with the introduction of PV panels, a highly efficient building envelope which included green roofs, 17% of the construction budget was spent on local materials within 10 miles of the site and a total of 93% within 20 miles. 57% of the workforce used was also local labour within 10 miles.

The project was completed in December 2018 and has received a positive response. The scheme was also recognised as a regional finalist at the LABC award in 2019.

The flagship scheme marks the completion of the first phase of the councils house building project following the handover of 17 homes in Coalville.
