Cottage Mews
A landmark pub which had been the target of anti-social behaviour and arsonists makes way for new housing in Wednesbury.
DSA was instructed to develop an individual, small housing scheme on the former Cottage Inn located in Hobs Road, Wednesbury, which was once considered a ‘garden pub’ but fell into disrepair and has stood empty for 10 years.
Following positive discussions with the local authority, planning had been granted for 14 units and maximized the potential of the site for the client. The site comprised townhouses and apartments and with the efficiently used footprints, a number of spacious family houses were created.
Based on the local vernacular the material palette was carefully selected with the use of local brick and render and a high internal specification to create comfortable spaces.
