Sutton Drive Rehabilitation Unit

The brief for the Sutton Drive Mental Health facility in the West Midlands was to modernise, improve and bring back to life two detached buildings and create a inviting and healing environment for children with mental health issues.

The design objective was to be mindful of using the existing site and buildings as a base for the scheme whilst providing an environment that would promote a sense of well-being for both patients and staff, provide a variety of experiences to all users, provide support to all users – especially the patients and provide an improved image of the service and organisation.
The extension and alterations alongside the modern forms, use of materials and finishes reflect the more civic/contemporary status that the site and surrounding development required.
