DSA was appointed in 2017 to extend and modernise an existing care home by doubling the number of patients and creating improved facilities for the residents. The scheme involved, extending the rear of the building to create a large spacious lounge, connecting the existing building to the recently purchased neighbouring property and converting this space into additional resident rooms.

The home specialises in Dementia Care and to address the special needs of the patients, layouts were designed to aid the visitors’ and residents’ ability to navigate the building. The layouts and architectural features have to provide visual clues, with rooms, access and activity areas carefully arranged to avoid residents becoming disoriented and frustrated.

Where possible skylights and large windows were added to maximise natural daylight The upgrades also include, new office spaces, a passenger lift, improved kitchens, landscape gardens and visitor areas.
